SUMMARY:Watersports Experience Session with Encompass Training
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for one of two exciting watersports experience at the beautiful Woolladon Lake\, Meeth\, offered by Encompass Training as part of Hatherleigh Festival 2026! \n\n\n\nWe are running two sessions this year\, this Wednesday evening session could be great for those who can’t make an afternoon session due to work or school. This session will be limited to 10 places so book your tickets below to avoid disappointment (10% off if you book 4 or more places). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a seasoned paddler or trying it for the first time\, this fun-filled session offers the chance to enjoy paddleboarding\, canoeing\, and kayaking on the serene lake. \n\n\n\nMeeting Points & Times:\n\n\n\n\nHatherleigh Community Centre: pickup at 6.15pm (transport provided) or meet at Meeth nature reserve main car park: 6.30pm\n\n\n\nReturn to Meeth car park at 8.45pm or Hatherleigh Community Centre at 9pm.\n\n\n\n\nSession outline:\n\n\n\n\nShort minibus ride from Meeth car park down to Woolladon Lake.\n\n\n\nGet kitted out with wetsuits\, buoyancy aids\, and helmets (sizing up will be done on arrival).\n\n\n\nMale/female changing areas – these are rustic changing areas.\n\n\n\nWe will see what everyone has a preference for and split into groups for two of the following activities: kayaking\, canoeing and paddle boarding.\n\n\n\n\nPre-event Information:\n\n\n\n\nWear swimming wear if you can – this speeds up getting ready.\n\n\n\nBring: towel\, trainers which will get wet in the lake (not flip flops/crocs)\, warm clothes and dry shoes for afterwards\, drink/food\, plastic bag for wet swim wear & wet trainers\, sun cream/hat.\n\n\n\nBring any necessary medication – inhalers etc.\n\n\n\nCome prepared for all weathers\n\n\n\n\nIf you have your own wetsuit and would like to wear it then please do bring it. SUMMARY:Joel Munday: Solo Violin Recital
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome local young violinist Joel Munday to Hatherleigh for a solo recital at the Methodist Chapel. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoel is a British violinist who performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. The 2025/26 season marks his professional solo debut with the London Mozart Players\, and he was recently selected as a Tillett Debut Artist. He has worked with leading contemporary composers including Pēteris Vasks and Osvaldo Golijov\, and trained with pedagogues such as Leonidas Kavakos\, Alina Ibragimova and Daniel Rowland during his Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music. In 2024 he was one of just 11 musicians worldwide to receive the London Symphony Orchestra’s Conservatoire Scholarship. \n\n\n\nJoel has been described as “a truly remarkable violinist and musician who really holds the future of classical music in his hands” (Zsolt Bognár)\, and praised by his mentor Alina Ibragimova as “thoughtful\, open-minded” with “a unique way of approaching everything he plays.” \n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\n\nLera Auerbach – T’filah\n\n\n\nJ.S. DESCRIPTION:Join Edward Tripp and Chris White for another big Poetic Hunt! A second serving of silly and subversive comedy\, poetry\, live music and filth. \n\n\n\nThis event will feature a guest spot from musical comedian Mimi\, an Audience Limerick competition\, a “community poem” created by you. Yes\, you. Some surprising proclamations from Roz the town crier\, a panda in a headlock\, and a few references to Noel Edmunds. This is poetry for people who don’t like poetry. And comedy for people who aren’t too discerning \n\n\n\nEdward Tripp is an award-winning Irish stand-up poet\, with a penchant for the surreal. He’s performed up and down the UK\, from Just the Tonic in Edinburgh to the London Museum of Comedy. Whether screaming about spatulas or soliloquising about Uncle Connor “who isn’t in the IRA\,” Ed’s a prop-heavy and provocative performer. “A roaring fire of absurd wit” – Corr Blimey \n\n\n\nChris White is a performer\, poet and the soggiest bottom in all Exeter. The founder of Spork! Poetry\, a multiple slam winner\, and the first Riddler in Residence at Exeter Cathedral. He’s performed all over from Shambala to Tongue Fu\, as well as on buses and boats. Writing silly words about queerness\, identity and ducks. “A knack for humour that can make you sigh in embarrassment\, while also crying with laughter.” – Bristol 24/7 \n\n\n\nPlus Mimi! Cornwall Comedian of the Year 2022\, Mimi is a high energy performer\, super scatty and armed with a ukulele to accompany her sweet but sour observations. A regular host of Beasts of Bodmin\, and (who could forget) the winner of the “Worst Poet Wins” competition at Exeter Comedy Festival 2025.  \n\n\n\nGet involved in the Limerick Slam by writing an original limerick ahead of the night and reading it onstage. The best 2 limerick writers will then have around 30mins to write a new limerick on the spot. DESCRIPTION:Come along\, bring an old glass vase and upcycle it into a colourful piece that catches the light\, using a selection of colourful mulberry papers.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA vase approx 25cm tall x 10 – 15cm wide is ideal. It must be plain glass\, no cut glass or patterning. DESCRIPTION:Archery is a very rewarding and accessible activity for all. Test your skills and your aim under the expert supervision of Encompass Training.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are running two sessions\, in the garden at The Old Vicarage (and may put on a third if popular).  \n\n\n\nSession One: 10-11.15am \n\n\n\nSession Two: 11.30am-12.45pm \n\n\n\nEach session will be for up to 12 archers\, suitable for ages 6+ and will run for approximately 1 hour 15 mins. SUMMARY:Stitch a Fabric Book – Childrens Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Multi Use Room\, Hatherleigh Community Centre | age 8+ \n\n\n\nDesign and create patterns with simple running stitch using felt\, buttons and coloured thread for your cover before adding pages to create a fabric book.  Take it home to store your needles\, practise new embroidery stitches as you learn them or turn it into your own fabric journal! \n\n\n\nAll children must be accompanied by an adult to assist with use of scissors and needles and they will be more than welcome to join in the book making.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlaces are limited to 8 children so booking is essential.  Please email info@sustainablehatherleigh.org.uk to book.   \n\n\n\nWorkshop funded by West Devon Council and is part of the ongoing workshops run by Sustainable Hatherleigh. \n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue
