SUMMARY:Paint-a-(Dartmoor)-Pony Competition
DESCRIPTION:Capture the spirit of Dartmoor through its rapidly disappearing native ponies. \n\n\n\nFor £25 you’ll receive an MDF pony cut-out to paint or decorate however you wish. The brief is deliberately broad: your cut-out is a canvas for the spirit of Dartmoor in all its forms. That might mean a beautifully observed portrait of a Dartmoor pony\, or it might mean tors and stone rows\, rocky streams\, thatched cottages\, folk tales\, the wide moorland sky – anything that speaks to what Dartmoor is. Realistic\, abstract\, whimsical\, illustrative: all approaches are welcome. \n\n\n\nOne entry per person. \n\n\n\nThe shape of the MDF cut-out you will use\n\n\n\nHow to enter \n\n\n\nCut-outs are available from Salar Gallery during the Festival and throughout July\, and from the Festival stall at the Saturday Street Market (11th July) for £25. \n\n\n\nPainted or decorated cut-outs should be returned to Salar Gallery by Monday 1st September. Judging takes place later in September\, after which entries will be auctioned to raise funds for the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust and Hatherleigh Festival. \n\n\n\nPrizes \n\n\n\n\n1st: £100\n\n\n\n2nd: £50\n\n\n\n3rd: £25\n\n\n\nSpecial prize for best entry by an artist aged 16 or under\n\n\n\n\nKindly sponsored by Sonia Lindsay and Sally Vick. \n\n\n\nAbout DPHT \n\n\n\nThe Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust is a charity working to ensure these ponies\, which have roamed the moor for centuries\, still have a future. They are part of Dartmoor’s history\, heritage and identity\, and a living symbol of the National Park – which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for one of two exciting watersports experience at the beautiful Woolladon Lake\, Meeth\, offered by Encompass Training as part of Hatherleigh Festival 2026! \n\n\n\nWe are running two sessions this year\, this Wednesday evening session could be great for those who can’t make an afternoon session due to work or school. This session will be limited to 10 places so book your tickets below to avoid disappointment (10% off if you book 4 or more places). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a seasoned paddler or trying it for the first time\, this fun-filled session offers the chance to enjoy paddleboarding\, canoeing\, and kayaking on the serene lake. \n\n\n\nMeeting Points & Times:\n\n\n\n\nHatherleigh Community Centre: pickup at 6.15pm (transport provided) or meet at Meeth nature reserve main car park: 6.30pm\n\n\n\nReturn to Meeth car park at 8.45pm or Hatherleigh Community Centre at 9pm.\n\n\n\n\nSession outline:\n\n\n\n\nShort minibus ride from Meeth car park down to Woolladon Lake.\n\n\n\nGet kitted out with wetsuits\, buoyancy aids\, and helmets (sizing up will be done on arrival).\n\n\n\nMale/female changing areas – these are rustic changing areas.\n\n\n\nWe will see what everyone has a preference for and split into groups for two of the following activities: kayaking\, canoeing and paddle boarding.\n\n\n\n\nPre-event Information:\n\n\n\n\nWear swimming wear if you can – this speeds up getting ready.\n\n\n\nBring: towel\, trainers which will get wet in the lake (not flip flops/crocs)\, warm clothes and dry shoes for afterwards\, drink/food\, plastic bag for wet swim wear & wet trainers\, sun cream/hat.\n\n\n\nBring any necessary medication – inhalers etc.\n\n\n\nCome prepared for all weathers\n\n\n\n\nIf you have your own wetsuit and would like to wear it then please do bring it. SUMMARY:Joel Munday: Solo Violin Recital
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome local young violinist Joel Munday to Hatherleigh for a solo recital at the Methodist Chapel. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoel is a British violinist who performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. The 2025/26 season marks his professional solo debut with the London Mozart Players\, and he was recently selected as a Tillett Debut Artist. He has worked with leading contemporary composers including Pēteris Vasks and Osvaldo Golijov\, and trained with pedagogues such as Leonidas Kavakos\, Alina Ibragimova and Daniel Rowland during his Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music. In 2024 he was one of just 11 musicians worldwide to receive the London Symphony Orchestra’s Conservatoire Scholarship. \n\n\n\nJoel has been described as “a truly remarkable violinist and musician who really holds the future of classical music in his hands” (Zsolt Bognár)\, and praised by his mentor Alina Ibragimova as “thoughtful\, open-minded” with “a unique way of approaching everything he plays.” \n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\n\nLera Auerbach – T’filah\n\n\n\nJ.S.
